One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Genesis 18:16-19:38
Matthew 6:25-7:14
Psalm 8:1-9
Proverbs 2:6-15

Verse of the day:

So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him. (Matthew 7:11)

Becoming a parent this past year has given me such a different perspective on this verse and how much God loves us. Let me just say I am head over heels for my little girl Chloe. Before she was born Josh and I began to buy her gifts. We wanted her to have the best that we could give her so whenever we went shopping we had to go to the kids department to look for her. Not much has changed since she was born; in fact it has gotten worse! A trip to Target is not complete without going through the kids department and seeing if there are any new items on the clearance rack! Because of our great love for our little girl we want to give her good gifts.

This verse tells us that even though we are sinful we still out of our great love for our kids know how to give them good gifts, but our heavenly Father who is perfect also has this desire to bless us and give us good gifts because of His immense love for us. Now maybe for you; you have always read this and gleaned how much God loves you from this verse but it wasn’t until I realized how much love I could have for someone else that I then could comprehend “wow, God loves me so much more than this.”

We just wrapped up the Christmas season and I’m sure that all of us had someone that we loved immensely that we wanted to bless with a gift this year. It may have been a spouse, a parent, a child, a friend, a sibling or even a pet (They count as family too right?!) Think about how much you love that person and wanted to bless them. God loves you soooooo much more than you love that person and wants to bless you that much more because of His incredible love for you. His love for us is mind blowing!

Often we feel alone, rejected, and unloved but we have a heavenly Father who will never leave us alone, will never reject us and will never stop loving us! Ephesians 3:18-19 says, “And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” The love that God has for us is life changing. My prayer for you today is that you would be able to grasp just how much you are loved by God. It doesn’t matter how much man’s love may fail us,God’s love for us will never fail! He will never change His mind on loving you!
