Now that Halloween is past and we have moved into the month of November many of us have Thanksgiving on the brain. I have already started looking on Pinterest for recipesfor sweet potato casserole, stuffing, mashed potatoesand all sorts of pumpkin desserts (none of which I will probably make). On Facebook I’ve begun to see people posting each day one thing that they are thankful leading up to Thanksgiving. It’s a good practice to be thankful but it’s not enough to be thankful without giving thanks to who gave us what we are thankful for.
James 1:17 says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” Whatever we have in our life that is good is ultimately a gift from God. A raise from our boss, a new baby, our home, our car, health, protection, good weather—It all comes from Him! Have you ever given a gift and had the recipient not say thank you? You worked hard at trying to find something that they would be blessed by and that they would like but no thank you ever came. How did that make you feel? My guess is not good!
