Water Gun Fights For Jesus

Verse of the day
“You placed the world on its foundation so it would never be moved.” (Psalm 104:5 NLT)
I pick my boys up from school every Monday. It’s one of the unique benefits of having a weekday as a day off. This Monday, my boys entered the car like lawyers in final deliberation. “Okay . . . Dad . . . “ (Apparently, there had been some pre-trial hearings at lunch.) Monday was the first supremely warm day of the season, and their God-implanted boyhood was plotting adventure. Water hose. Backyard. Swimsuits.
They were prepared for a fight, but on this Monday, I was an all-too-willing participant. We picked up four water guns from Walgreens on the way home. The afternoon was . . . (and I’m using this word correctly) . . . divine.
Creation exalts the creator. When the grass starts growing, the people of God should rise in praise. When seasons change, our pleasure gives glory to the One who sets the earth on its axle.
“You are dressed in a robe of light. You stretch out the starry curtain of the heavens; you lay out the rafters of your home in the rain clouds. You make the clouds your chariot; you ride upon the wings of wind.” (Psalm 104:2-3)
We know that winters in Wisconsin can be long. Don’t miss this season. Don’t allow long days and Netflix to cause you to miss out on the kaleidoscope of God’s creativity. Our Monday playtime ended with my 4-year-old daughter stuck 12 feet high in our backyard pine tree because her older brothers were giving her (and I quote) “climbing lessons”. Be safe. Get outside, and give honor to the one who “made the moon to mark the seasons.” (Psalm 104:19a)
