Psalm 142:1-7
Proverbs 17:24-25

Verse of the day:

Sensible people keep their eyes glued on wisdom, but a fool’s eyes wander to the ends of the earth. (Proverbs 17:24)

Do your eyes wander? Yesterday we took our almost 10 month old daughter Chloe to the zoo for the first time. We were very excited to show her the animals and have this new experience with her. She however had wandering eyes. We would point to the lion and she would be looking at the kid next to her. We would point to the new baby giraffe and she would look at daddy’s sunglasses.  She hasn’t yet learned how to keep her focus on one thing for a long period of time. Any little distraction has her eyes wandering.

Focus is something that we learn as we get older and hopefully wiser.  It is a skill that can help us navigate through the storms of life.  The verse says that “Sensible people keep their eyes glued on wisdom.”  I think we all like to think that we are sensible people. It’s easy to keep our eyes glued on what is wise when things are going our way. When trouble comes though, it’s easy to begin looking for shortcuts. What is wise is not always what is easy.  Sometimes we begin to look for answers and solutions that we like instead of looking toward what God says is always wise and right.  According to this verse that is what a fool does.

When trouble comes your way don’t allow yourself to become distracted to get off course. Keep your eyes focused on God’s wisdom you will never go astray.
