1 Samuel 5:1-7:17
Verse of the day:
“The people refused to enter the pleasant land, for they wouldn’t believe his promise to care for them. Instead, they grumbled in their tents and refused to obey the Lord.” (Psalm 106:24-25)
Psalm 106 narrates for us the many shortcomings of the people of Israel as they are on their way to becoming the people and the nation that God desired them to be. One of the saddest verses of this Psalm is verse 24, “The people refused to enter the pleasant land, for they wouldn’t believe his promise to care for them.”
How sad to not believe the promises of God. How sad that we so often do the same thing. We fight with God over control of our lives because ultimately we don’t trust Him to care for us. When the people of Israel chose not to believe Him it left them grumbling in their tents instead of moving into the pleasant Promise Land.
When we choose not to trust God we miss out on the good things He has planned for us. When we try to take things into our own hands it only leads to trouble and our misery. God’s plans and God’s ways are always best. God will always care for you. You can always trust Him.
