You Can’t Control Everything!

2 Corinthians 8:1-15
Verse of the day:
If the anger of the ruler rises against you, do not leave your place, for calmness will lay great offenses to rest. (Ecclesiastes 10:4)
There are things in life you can’t control – like your boss’ reactions. Have you ever been on the receiving end of your boss’ wrath?
At one point or another, we’ve all been offended or unjustly accused by someone who has authority over us. (If you haven’t, get ready because you will). It may have been a parent, a teacher, a police officer, a boss, or a spouse.
Regardless of who did it or where it happened, we are left feeling angry and our first reaction might be to lash out in anger, to talk about the person behind his or her back, and/or to fight back. However if we don’t want to add fuel to the fire, we must learn to act in an appropriate and God-honoring way.
Thus, God is challenging us today to not allow our emotions to dictate our behavior.
In other words, we shouldn’t rush to resign because our boss got mad at us or offended us. If we are been unfairly accused, we should not run or they might think we are guilty.
On the contrary, we must be forgiving and kind (the Holy Spirit will give us the strength). We must strive to calm down and continue to efficiently perform our duties as we objectively evaluate what is the appropriate and God-honoring way to react.
