One Year Bible Reading Guide:

2 Kings 6:1-7:20
Acts 15:36-16:15
Psalm 142:1-7
Proverbs 17:24-25

Verse of the day:

“Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!” (2 Kings 6:16)

It can be overwhelming at times how alone we can feel in our times of trial. We look around and it feels like we are surrounded by the enemy on every side.  And that’s when one of the enemy’s most powerful tools against us begins to take seep into our life…Fear.  We fear that we are alone, we fear the future, and ultimately we begin to fear that God has forgotten us.

This is where we find Elisha’s servant.  He is fearful as he looks around and sees that he is surrounded by an enemy that only wants to bring him and Elisha harm. They were completely surrounded and the servant cries out to Elisha, “Oh, sir, what will we do now?” Elisha though was not fearful because He knew that even though they were surrounded that when God is on your side there are “For there are more on our side than on theirs!” Elisha prayed that the servant’s eyes would be opened to be able to see the army of the Lord that was with them and the servant was able to see that the hillside was full of horses and chariots of fire.

No matter how surrounded by the enemy we feel or what our circumstances look like when we have God on our side we can always be confident that there are “For there are more on our side than on theirs!” Don’t allow the enemy to do a number on your mind by getting you to believe the lies that God has abandoned you and that you are alone! Be confident that when you are close to God that He will always be close to you!
