Why Be Afraid?
Posted: Tuesday, February 2
Verse of the day:
The Lord is my light, and he saves me. Why should I fear anyone? The Lord is my place of safety. Why should I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1)
Fear is an emotion that we feel almost every day! What we fear can sometimes be small things like spiders, running out of your favorite candy, or slipping on ice in front of the entire school!! But there are also big things that we fear like going to school when you aren’t doing too well. Or maybe there’s constant fighting in your home.
Well did you know that God tells us more than 350 times to not be afraid because He is with us!! The reason why God reminds us over and over again is because He knows fear is something we all experience. He also promises that he will give us strength to handle that fear.
In Psalm 27, it's like a lightbulb turns on in David's head and he says to himself, "The Lord is my light, and he saves me. Why should I fear anyone? The Lord is my place of safety. Why should I be afraid?"
In that moment David realizes that God is with him and promises to work everything out for his good. Let's pray today that the light bulb would turn on in our heads and realize that God is always with us and wants to take that fear from us!
