Rejoice - We've Got Hope // Sunday, October 26

Posted: Sunday, October 26

One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Jeremiah 49:23-50:46
Titus 1:1-16
Psalm 97:1-98:9
Proverbs 26:13-16

Verse of the day:

Rejoice in the Lord, you who are righteous, and praise his holy name. (Psalm 97:12)

Hurricanes, Ebola virus, riots, abortion, 36 dead, 27 dead, 26 dead, war, Islamic State, human trafficking, kidnapping, and murder are just some of the not-so-uplifting topics in the news as I read it today.  When you read or watch the news, you can become inundated with stories of tragedy, atrocity, catastrophe and calamity. It’s true, there is a lot of bad stuff going on in the world today.

Yes, we need to be informed of it.  And yes, we need to have concern and pray for those who find themselves in the middle of the “news”. But you can become fearful, become depressed, or even lose all hope if you focus only on those things.  The Bible tells us numerous times that we are to put our hope in the Lord.  So when all this is happening around you, don’t focus on those things.  Focus on the Lord.  Not a lot to rejoice about?  Rejoice in the Lord.  He is our hope.
