Caution: People At Work // Wednesday, October 8

Posted: Wednesday, October 8

One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Jeremiah 10:1-11:23
Colossians 3:18-4:18
Psalm 78:56-72
Proverbs 24:28-29

Verse of the day:

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.
Colossians 3:23)

Work. Just the word brings up different emotions in side all of us. For some, the word brings up the feelings of pride, success, accomplishment, fulfillment, and wealth. For others, the word brings up the feelings of dread, worthlessness, and failure. No matter who you are, there is a good chance for most of your life you will have to work. The question is, who are you working for?

As Christians, we believe that everything in our lives comes to us from the hand of God. The job that we have is no different. Each day that we are at work, we should produce as if we are working to hear our Heavenly Father say, “Well done! Good job with the work I asked of you today.” If our job truly is from God, then we should do our best, no matter the working conditions. If you have a boss that you struggle with, remember that your ultimate boss is God. The way you live your life at the job may be the only witness of Jesus that your coworkers, boss and employees may ever see.

Are you showing them a Christian is industrious, hardworking and honest? Are you showing them a Christian is lazy, a theft (stealing both productivity and products) and a complainer? The gospel you live will always out sell the gospel you speak. Strive today to hear the word of your heavenly provider, “Well done.” I can promise that if you make that your goal, your employers will also be pleased with output and outlook of you as an employee.
