You Don’t Get A Prize If You Quit

Verse of the day:
Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. (James 1:12)
You don’t get a prize if you quit.
Back in the day you actually had to be good at something in order to earn a trophy or award. I only earned two trophies growing up and both of those were early on in Royal Rangers. Even in 2014 when everyone earns a participation award, some things only come to those who don’t quit, like a diploma.
There’s a prize on the line for those of us who are following Jesus Christ. I used to think it was wrong to be motivated by the reward but it was Jesus himself who told us to ‘store up treasures in heaven’ (Matthew 6:20)
One of the biggest reasons Christians quit the race is temptation, which is what James is referring to in this verse. We feel defeated because we are attracted to the same sins time and again. We must remember that it is not a sin to be tempted; it’s only a sin to give into the temptation. Often Satan will try to throw a temptation our way in the midst of great opportunities God is opening for us. This calls for vigilance on our part.
You don’t get the prize if you quit. A lot is on the line. Keep going and finish strong!
