Verse of the day:
Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done. (Psalm 105:1)
The reading in Psalms for today starts out with the above verse. The first part of that verse says, “Give thanks to the Lord”. Being thankful is always a great place to start. It’s why the psalmist writes, “Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name.” (Psalm 100:4) .
When we are truly thankful to God it has a snowball effect. Things grow from there. The following verses up to verse five show some of those things. ( NIV 84) We “call on His name”. He becomes our go to. (v. 1a) We “make known among the nations what he has done”. We tell others about Him. (v. 1b) We “sing to Him”. We praise Him. (v. 2a) Again, we tell others about Him. (v. 2b) “Let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.” We rejoice. (v. 3) “Seek His face always.” We turn to Him. (v. 4) “Remember the wonders He has done.” We appreciate what God has already done for us. (v. 5)
Start with giving thanks and see what happens. Start November with thanks giving. Don’t wait till Thanksgiving. Start each day by saying “Thank You” to God. Be prepared for God to do something in your heart as you “Enter his gates with thanksgiving”.
