He Who Goes Before Us

Verse of the day:
You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand! (Psalm 139:5-6)
From the preceding verses, we learn that God knows all there is to know about us. What we’ll say before we say it—our comings and goings before we take our first step—even when we were being formed in secret, prior to our birth. And as He took account of us, He put together a perfect plan for our lives—a path made straight and smooth for us to travel on.
We know from what the Psalmist writes that God goes before us, and follows after. I believe He goes before preparing the way and follows after as a rear guard for protection—with Him there, the past cannot follow us, accusing us, because He has released us from it. He also walks along side of us, teaching, comforting and counseling us along life’s way.
Then we read in verse 6 that, “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand.” The beauty of it all is that we don’t have to understand it, we just need to accept it, and enjoy His “hand of blessing on our heads.”
