Who is the God of Jacob? He is “the Maker of heaven and earth”. He is “the Lord, who remains faithful”. (v. 6) Who is it He helps and brings hope to? He helps the oppressed, the hungry, the prisoner, the blind, the burdened, the righteous, the alien, the fatherless, and the widow. (vv. 7-9) What does He do for them? He upholds their cause, gives them food, sets them free, gives them sight, lifts them up, loves them, watches over them, and sustains them. (vv. 7-9)
Do you want to live under the blessing of “the Maker of heaven and earth”? Then trust in Him, not in men. (vv. 3&5) “Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God.” Psalm 146:5 Also, how about being God’s hands extended helping others. We are part of God’s plan to do so, you know. God’s hand of blessing is on us as we trust in Him, but we must use God’s blessing also to bless others. How about reaching out to the oppressed, the hungry, the fatherless, the widow, the burdened, etc. Going into this next year, trust God and be a blessing to others.
