One Year Bible Reading Guide:
Verse of the Day
“A man who makes a vow to the Lord or makes a pledge under oath must never break it. He must do exactly what he said he would do.” (Numbers 30:2)
“But you promised.” Most of us have heard these words or said them ourselves. Breaking your word does not always seem like a big deal to the one that does the breaking; however, to the one that was anticipating them to follow through, it can be impactful. Have you ever had someone in your life that was completely unreliable? You may have trusted them to follow through a time or two, but after they had burned you enough times, you stop trusting.
If our lives are a reflection of the character of God and our God is completely reliable, then we are called to live a life of integrity. We must follow through. God always does what he says he will do. We must be people of our word as well. If you have promised, then do everything you can to make good on that promise. If we show integrity in our work ethics, our family relationships, and in our friendships, then our friends will be more open to believe us when we speak of the amazing things of our God.
Today, make the choice to be a person of your word. No matter how small the promise may have been, follow through. Do exactly what you said you would do.
