One Year Bible Reading Guide:
Verse of the day:
We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praise worthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done. (Psalm 78:4)
Psalm 78:1-8 presents us with this challenge. “Tell the next generation.” Go ahead, do it. Tell young people of God’s deeds, power and wonder. Share with them stories showing God’s greatness from the Bible. It is full of them. Tell them about Noah, Moses, Daniel, David and of course Jesus. Share with them the stories of God’s greatness in your life and the lives of others. Tell them of the times God saved, protected, provided, healed and directed you. When God spared you from an awful car crash, share that. Remind them of God’s greatness in their own lives. When your child prayed for mommy to be healed and God answered that prayer right away, don’t let them forget that.
Judges 2:10 is a sad, sad verse of scripture. It says, “After that whole generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation grew up, who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel.” Did you get that? After a whole generation died the next generation didn’t know God or what he had done. It wasn’t passed on. Let’s not let that happen again. Tell your sons and your daughters. Tell your grandkids. Tell your neighbor kids. Tell your nieces and nephews. Tell your younger brothers and sisters. Tell your Sunday School class. Tell your kids’ friends. Tell the youth and children around you. Go ahead, tell the next generation of the greatness of our God.
