One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Judges 17:1-18:31
John 3:1-21
Psalm 104:1-23
Proverbs 14:20-21

Verse of the day:

God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. (John 3:17)

Everyone knows John 3:16: “For God so loved the world…” yet few know and believe John 3:17. I tend to believe it’s because most people truly know what they deserve; that their hearts have already convicted them of their own sin. Most of us clearly understand what we have coming to us, and it’s not God’s loving offer of salvation in Jesus Christ. I’m so glad God says otherwise!

In the Old Testament, we often read about how people avoided the presence of God. God’s presence was fearful, awesome, and even terrifying. And in the gospels, God comes into the world as Jesus Christ, as a person – watch out – he must have come to lay the smack down! Most people in Christ’s day believed he came to judge just like many today believe that God shows up in their lives only to tell them how bad they are, but that’s not what the Scriptures declare and that’s not what God does.  Oh yes, there will be a day of judgment but the Bible declares that “today is the day of salvation.”

Take some time to tell just one person how good God is and how much He loves people. Trust God to plant something new and fresh in their hearts through that simple conversation.
