One Year Bible Reading Guide:

2 Samuel 13:1-39
John 17:1-26
Psalm 119:81-96
Proverbs 16:6-7

Verse of the day:
My soul faints with longing for your salvation, but I have put my hope in your word. (Psalm 119:81)

Have you ever prayed for God to rescue you from a hard time but you feel like you don’t hear back anything and you don’t see immediate change in your situation?  In those times what do you do? Do you lose faith? Do you blame God for what’s going on? Or do you hold on to hope in His Word?  The Psalmist here is in one of those times—He has grown tired & weary from his circumstance and from waiting to be rescue. He declares though that he won’t let that rob him from his source of hope which is found in God’s promises.

What promises do you need to hold on to get you through your situation? Is it the promise that God will never leave you or forsake you? Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Is it the promise that God will always provide a way out when you face temptation? 1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”

Is it the promise that when you are crushed and have a broken heart that God will be near you? Psalm 34:18 “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Is it the promise that God will provide for all your needs? Philippians 4:19 “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”

Whatever you are facing God has a promise for you to hold on to. Even when He doesn’t move as fast as we want Him to He is there and He is present on the scene acting on our behalf.  Hold on to God’s Word—If God said it He will come through on it!  Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”
