1 Chronicles 22:1-23:32
Verse of the day:
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23)
What a dismal verse of scripture Romans 3:23 is. So often you hear this verse by itself, It’s kind of like leaving the second half of Romans 6:23 out which would make it read, “For the wages of sin is death.” The left out potion reads, “But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” However Romans 3:23 is a very important verse of scripture, showing man’s sinful condition and need for a Savior. Still dismal, it says because of our sinful condition we miss out on God’s very best for us, Himself. In several translations, including this one, the verse is ended with a coma or semi-colon. What’s this mean? It means there is more. There is hope. It means we need to look at what verses 24 and 25 say.
“And all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith.”
It says we are justified (Made just like we never sinned). It says we receive His grace (We get what we don’t deserve). It says we are redeemed (Our debt has been paid). It says Christ made atonement for our sins (He took our place). It says by Jesus blood we are saved (He was the perfect sacrifice). It says we receive all this through faith (Believing in Him). Things don’t sound so dismal anymore do they? Man’s hope is found in Jesus Christ.
