One Year Bible Reading Guide:

2 Kings 22:3-23:30
Acts 21:37-22:16
Psalm 1:1-6
Proverbs 18:11-12

Verse of the Day:

I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; (Ps. 9:1a, NIV)

I tend to shy away from using big, extreme words like always, never, and all. These words make me nervous because they are so big and so final and in my aim to be honest, I usually don’t find them to be very accurate. However, in this case, the word all brings quite a challenge.

David simply declares that he will praise God with all his heart. The Hebrew word used for heart includes his soul, mind, will, conscience, appetites, and emotions. That’s a tall order! My thoughts can wander in all sorts of directions. My feelings can be like a rollercoaster, up and down.  And my appetites, wow, I don’t think I want to talk about that. Yet, as Spirit-filled followers of Jesus Christ, we have been given new hearts, new minds, and quite literally a new life. The impossible all becomes possible in Christ.

I believe this all challenge is one that every follower of Jesus Christ must take on. Will you take that challenge just for today? Set your sights on what God has done and is doing and let your every thought, word, and deed praise the Lord.
