One Year Bible Reading Guide:

1 Chronicles 9:1-10:14
Acts 27:21-44
Psalm 8:1-9
Proverbs 18:23-24

Verse of the Day:

"O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens. You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength, silencing your enemies and all who oppose you." (Psalm 8:1-2)

I remember the first time that our oldest son Greyson was able to repeat a Bible story back to us. We were at a mexican restaurant in Tulsa, Oklahoma desperately hunting for distractions until the food arrived. As Greyson began to tell the story, the table quieted down as we all began to play ‘name-that-Bible-story.’ We would catch a few words: “Fight” “Walls” “March”. We were pretty sure it was Jericho, but the end sealed the deal. Greyson stands up in his chair and screams to the restaurant “Then The Walls Fall DOOWWNN!!”

David prophesied it: “You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength.” The beauty of this psalm is the poetic contrast of one who is higher than the heavens and yet chooses to entrust his testimony to children.

In Matthew chapter 21, the temple leaders reported that children were shouting “Praise God for the Son of David.” The children knew who He was! Jesus replies, “Haven’t you ever read the Scriptures? For they say, ‘You have taught children and infants to give you praise.’” Praise God that the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings speaks to children!
