Make Trusting God An Epidemic // Monday, August 25

1 Corinthians 16:1-24
Verse of the day:
He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him. Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods. (Psalm 40:3-4)
As I read the beginning of Psalm 40 I was reminded of the old hymn, “He Brought Me Out”, that we would sing in the little church I grew up in. The chorus echoes verses 2 and 3 of our Psalm. It says this.
“He brought me out of the miry clay, He set my feet on the Rock to stay; He puts a song in my heart today, A song of praise, hallelujah.”
Aren’t you glad that the Lord brought you out of the pit, mire and mud of sin. Also there are times in our lives that are miry and muddy. Everyone comes upon some kind of trial or difficulty in their lives at some time. Aren’t you glad that the Lord brings you out of those miry or muddy times or at least through them to the other side.
Psalm 40:3b-4a says “Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him. Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord”. When you trust in God for salvation and respond by letting other know what Christ did for you the result is others trust in the Lord. Also, when you trust in God through both the good and difficult times of life and others see your faith during those times, the result is others trust in the Lord. In verses 9 and 10 David says he will not stay silent about the goodness of his Lord. Neither should we. Let’s trust in the Lord without covering our mouths and let’s make trusting in the Lord an epidemic.
