Sing Everyday // Monday, September 15

Posted: Monday, September 15

One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Isaiah 19:1-21:17
Galatians 2:1-16
Psalm 59:1-17
Proverbs 23:13-14

Verse of the day:

But as for me, I will sing about your power.  Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge,  a place of safety when I am in distress. (Psalm 59:16)

Do you ever catch yourself singing in the car? I’m definitely an in the car singer! One of my favorite things to do is to put on music that I listened to in high school and sing along impressing my husband that I still know all the words (or maybe it’s just me that finds it impressive). The beauty of singing in the car is it’s still fun even if you don’t sound good.

Music has a huge impact on us! Often what we listen to can affect our mood and the way that we view the world.  When we are feeling down we often gravitate towards melodramatic & depressing songs. We sing them loudly proclaiming how no one understands what we are going through and how rough we have it.  What would happen though if when we are feeling down instead of going for the music that matches our mood we chose to sing songs of praise to God?  It would bring things back into perspective.  God is worthy of our praises every day regardless of what is going on around us! Singing praises to Him sometimes comes really naturally and sometimes we have to just make the choice to do it.

If you are struggling to sing praises to God think back on all that He has done for you! It’s easier to sing praises when we keep ourselves in a place of thankfulness! God has done so much for us and we have so much to thank Him for! Try to be like David- make the decision that each day you will sing to the Lord about all of His great qualities and all of the good things that He has done!
