The Power in the Blood

Verse of the day:
But the blood on your doorposts will serve as a sign, marking the houses where you are staying. When I see the blood, I will pass over you. This plague of death will not touch you when I strike the land of Egypt. (Exodus 12:13)
We live in a white washed world. The relationship with God, before Jesus, was anything but clean. It was thick and bloody, filled with sacrifice and death. Instead of our clean environments with filtered cool air, the temple and places of worship were hot, smelly places. The smell of animals, fire, smoke, and death hung in the air.
Because of Man’s sin, death was the required price. Hebrews 9:22 reminds us that without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sin. There is power in the blood.
In the book of Exodus, we are reading the story of the last night that Israel will stay in bondage in Egypt. They are about to be free. However, their freedom will come at a high price. Death. The angel of death is coming to walk through the land and every first born son will die. The only way for this to not happen in your house, is for another animal to die in your place. A sheep or a goat must be killed. The meat from the animal will be tonight’s dinner, but the blood of the animal must be placed upon the entry doorposts of your home.
The power of the blood is the covering that it provides. As Christians, today we do not take the blood of an animal sacrifice because Jesus, the Lamb of God, was sacrificed in our place. When you ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins, he takes your life and applies His Blood. His Blood covers your past mistakes. His Blood cleanses your heart and mind. His Blood has the power to forgive.
Today as you start your day, make sure that you apply the Blood of Jesus to your life. Ask for His covering and protection. Go to the front door of your home and touch the sides and top. Pray that God will add Jesus Blood to your home for protection and covering.
