One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Joshua 19:1-20:9
Luke 19:28-48
Psalm 88:1-18
Proverbs 13:12-14

Verse of the day:

By standing firm, you will win your souls. (Luke 21: 19)

Jesus never hid the fact that if you were going to be a follower of His that there were going to be intense times of persecution to come.  In describing what the times would be like prior to His returning He describes a very challenging and chaotic time. There will be false Messiah’s, there will be wars and insurrections, earthquakes, famines, plagues and great times of persecution for those who are His followers.

As we watch the news today we can become disheartened by all that we see. We hear about all of the persecution that is taking place around the world and how many are losing their homes, families, and lives because of their faith in Jesus. In our own country persecution of Christian values is on the increase with many being ridiculed if they do not go along with what popular culture is pushing.  So what should one do? Should we get out our protest signs and scream at others who don’t adhere to Christian values? Should we hide what we believe to protect our jobs and protect ourselves from ridicule?  Jesus says that when times like this come “By standing firm, you will win your souls.”

We are to stand firm and stand up for Jesus no matter what chaos is going on around us.  Are you feeling the temptation to blend in with culture instead of standing firm for Jesus? Remember that Jesus is with you and that He will help you to stand firm if you let Him!
