One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Judges 9:22-10:18
Luke 24:13-53
Psalm 100:1-5
Proverbs 14:11-12

Verse of the day:

While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up to heaven. (Luke 24:51)

I love a good magic trick just as much as the next guy. I remember as a kid watching David Copperfield do some pretty amazing things! One illusion that completely rocked my world was the women sawed in half. As a kid I couldn’t wrap my mind around what just took place and how this lady was still alive, let alone walking away with her body reattached!

The ascension of Jesus had to be just mind-blowing to watch! Not only did this guy come back from the dead, he’s flying now too! The ascension is far more than a cool magic trick, its the power and authority of Jesus displayed. Once Jesus’ ascended it put an official end to his Earthly ministry as human Jesus (mission accomplished) and opened the door for the Holy Spirit. Jesus returns to his Father in his full glory, now having the keys to death, hell, and the grave, to sit at the Father’s right hand. This is big time, it doesn’t get any more important or climactic than that!

Jesus’ role after the ascension is so beautiful and magnificent. He now moves from his Earthly mission to becoming our mediator and high priest. The Bible tells us that he is constantly interceding on our behalf and as High Priest secures our entry into God’s presence. He’s also getting Heaven prepared and ready for our arrival! The ascension was far more than a cool trick - it was the transition of one mission to the next for Jesus. The next time we see Him, he’ll return as King and Judge. Today, be thankful that Jesus ascended and is rooting for your best! He gave and is still giving His best for us, let’s work to do the same for Him!
