Ecclesiastes 10:1-12:14
2 Corinthians 8:1-15
Psalm 49:1-20
Proverbs 22:20-21

Verse of the day:

Using a dull ax requires great strength, so sharpen the blade. That’s the value of wisdom; it helps you succeed. (Ecclesiastes 10:10)

Have you ever cut down a tree with an ax? Believe me, it is harder than it looks! To use an ax is not only hard but also dangerous. It has to be kept sharp for safety reasons and in order to save energy. Now, you may say: “It is possible to cut down a tree with a dull blade” and you are right. It is possible but it is not the most effective way of doing it. The wisest thing to do when trying to cut down a tree with an ax is to sharpen it before using it.

Today, God is encouraging you to keep your ax sharpened. In other words, use your wisdom, not your strength, to successfully tackle any challenge that you may experience in your professional, personal or spiritual life. Remember that doing the wrong thing harder doesn’t accomplish anything and working hard at something doesn’t make it worthwhile, only wisdom leads you to success.

Be wise! Plan ahead of time, make sure that you have the tools that you need and that they are in working order. Set aside time regularly to study the Bible and pray. Do not confuse what you do for God (ministry) with the time you spend with Him (relationship).

Overcome the obstacles to success in any aspect of your life by being adequately prepared to accomplish the task at hand.
