Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly. (Psalm 5:3)
It’s July in Wisconsin which means mornings come early. I looked it up; our earliest sunrise was a few weeks back at 5:12am. I know that’s early, but I have to confess . . . I find the sunlight wonderfully refreshing. It’s so easy to wake up in the morning when daylight glows behind the curtains.
I love the innocence of a new day. Somehow yesterday’s shortcomings melt into the mattress, and each morning hands us the keys to a new day’s potential. I may be sleepy and have the hairdo of unsuspecting roadkill, but for that moment, for that first breath, the day is mine.
Which is why, in that moment, I do, I will, and we should, place our day in the Lord’s hands. He conquers our anxieties. He insulates our souls for the day that is to come. Bring your days before the Lord. Trust in Him and He will make your paths straight.
