Hosea 10:1-14:9
Jude 1:1-25
Psalm 127:1-5
Proverbs 29:15-17

Verse of the day:

“But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love. (Jude 1:20-21 )

If you want to avoid division, be a person that builds others up. It is hard to be angry or upset with someone that is always seeing and encouraging the good in others. The word encourage gives us the image of “breathing or speaking courage” into someone. We need to be able to speak life and build up the other person’s faith; faith in themselves, faith in others and ultimately a holy faith in God.

Secondly, Jude encourages us to pray in the power of the Holy Spirit. We are not just to pray on our own but to partner with the Spirit of God to flow through our mind and hearts so that we know how to pray. He knows all things and his wisdom will direct our prayer. He also is all powerful so he will also add power to our prayer. When we pray in the power of the Holy Spirit we invite him into the situation. Also, praying in the Spirit helps to align our spirits with His Spirit.

The third encouragement from Jude is that we await the mercy of Jesus Christ. When we invite him into a situation, he will show up. By his mercy, he is working to bring reconciliation to any division. He is a God that brings together not a God that isolates.

So today, build up, pray with power and await mercy. Then you will be safe in God’s Love.
