One Year Bible Reading Guide

Deuteronomy 5:1-6:25
Luke 7:11-35
Psalm 68:19-35
Proverbs 11:29-31

Verse of the day:

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life,
And he who wins souls is wise.
(Proverbs 11:30)

Proverbs 11:30 is one of my favorite verses in the Old Testament.  There is just so much content in this short verse.  Solomon, once again writes to his readers about the benefits of living a righteous life.  Righteousness is simply living a right life that is pleasing to God.

The fruit of this lifestyle is a tree of life.  Trees in the Bible symbolize strength, stability, growth, and much more.  The second part of Proverbs 11:30 states, “And he who wins souls is wise.”

Soul winners are wise because they win people to lead righteous lives.  Soul winners do not win people onto themselves, but they win others to the Lord.

Jesus said in Matthew 4:19,  “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”  Jesus invited His disciples to be soul winners.  No force is needed in fishing for men or winning souls.  God does this work but allows us to participate in this eternal work.

Today, lets be fruitful, lets live righteously, lets be solid as a tree, lets win some souls, and lets be wise.
