Verse of the day:

"If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the world."  (Deuteronomy 28:1 NLT)

My daughter has reached a turning point in her very short 1 and half year of life. She’s begun to have a mind of her own.

I’m blown away by how much like me she is! Strong willed, she knows what she wants, and she will let you know what she wants when she wants it! Don’t get me wrong, my daughter is the sweetest, best kid I’ve ever met, but she’s a human being! A human being that hits other kids when they take her toys. A human being that likes to scream in the car when her toy falls and it’s taking to long for Mom to pick it up. A human being that likes to stall when it’s bed time. If you’ve been around a kid before, you know what I’m talking about.

Why is obedience so hard for us? At the earliest point in our lives, when we can begin to think for ourselves, we like to do what we want. Just like how it is with obeying our parents, the choice to do things the way God has instructed us to can either carry wonderful blessings or dreadful consequences. Obedience to God is a big deal to Him because it proves we love Him. Obeying God demonstrates our commitment to Him and as a result glorifies Him to others.

God’s promise is that we will be blessed when we obey Him. He desires we love Him back willingly. We love God because He first loved us. If we want to live a shame free life, full of joy, obey God. We won’t have to look over our shoulders always wondering what's coming behind us. Ask God for His help to obey today and watch Him the wonders He’ll do in your life.
