Choose Your Words Carefully

2 Samuel 15:23-16:23
Verse of the day:
Then the leading priests objected and said to Pilate, “Change it from ‘The King of the Jews’ to ‘He said, I am King of the Jews.’” Pilate replied, “No, what I have written, I have written.” (John 19:21-22)
Choose your words carefully. Language is a field of land mines. Irregardless of what you might think . . . wait a minute . . . is it ‘irregardless’? That’s a nonsense word. Let’s try that again. Regardless of what you might think, accuracy in our communication is vital. When people speak recklessly, my heart literally explodes. I apologize. Please allow me to correct that. My heart figuratively explodes. It literally increases at a rate of 6 to 10 beats per minute to compensate for the added anxiety of reckless words.
Choose your words carefully. Do you believe in God? Do you believe in divine healing? What do you think about the presidential race? We are approached everyday with important conversations that shape our world. The foolish man speaks whenever theirs an opportunity. Really? Theirs an opportunity? The wise man knows that there is a time to speak loudly and a time to be silent. The priests wanted Pilate to edit his words to align with their cause. Pilate said what he meant, and he meant what he said.
