God Where Are You?

1 Corinthians 7:1-24
Verse of the day:
“In my alarm I said, ‘I am cut off from your sight!’ Yet you heard my cry for mercy when I called to you for help.” (Psalm 31:22 NIV)
“Mommy, where are you?” is a question I hear multiple times a day. Whether I’m separated from my two year old daughter by a wall in our house or it’s just she can’t see me sitting in the front seat of the car she likes to know where I am. I’m never very far but if she thinks that I have left her panic sets in. Frantically she will cry out “Mommy, where are you?!” She can’t comprehend yet that I will never abandon her.
Like my daughter, we often ask the same question of God. “God, where are you? God, do you even see me?” And God responds to our panic saying, “…Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior…” (Isaiah 43:1b-3)
