Isaiah 51:1-53:12
Ephesians 5:1-33
Psalm 69:19-36
Proverbs 24:7

 Verse of the day:

“Yes, think about Abraham, your ancestor, and Sarah, who gave birth to your nation. Abraham was only one man when I called him. But when I blessed him, he became a great nation.”

(Isaiah 51:2)

Like many of you I spent a good portion of my Saturdays this summer at graduation parties. Graduation parties are a great time of fellowship, delicious food and encouraging the recent graduate with kind words. Many of these words include phrases like, “you are going to do great things! You are going to be a word changer!” These are encouraging things to tell someone who is just starting out their adult life, but how often do you look yourself in the mirror and say the same thing? I’m guessing not often if ever.

We often doubt what God can do through us. It is hard to see the potential in ourselves that God sees. I’m sure that Abraham could never comprehend the destiny that God had for him when he looked in the mirror. We know Abraham and Sarah laughed in disbelief when they heard what God had in store. Have you ever felt God call you to something more but you counted yourself out?  Or you convinced yourself that He couldn’t use you?

If we truly look at ourselves we all have reasons that we can come up with of why God can’t use us. The key to being used to by God isn’t thinking more highly of ourselves its believing that with God all things are possible.  God takes delight in using the flawed. 1 Corinthians 1:27, “But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.” If God is calling you to do something and you have been stuck in self-doubt choose today to step out in obedience.  If God can bring an entire nation out of a 90 year old woman and a 100 year old man what might God want to do through you?
