Don't Get Comfy
Posted: Saturday, April 8
Verse of the day:
“Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning, as though you were waiting for your master to return from the wedding feast. Then you will be ready to open the door and let him in the moment he arrives and knocks.” (Luke 12:35-36 NLT)
After a long full day of work or school it’s nice to come home and get comfy. I think most of us enjoy the comfort of home where you can take your shoes off, get into comfy clothes and put your feet up on the couch if you want. Home is the place where you let your guard down, where you are safe. You wouldn’t go to your boss’s house in your PJ’s, go through his pantry and lay on his couch to watch TV…because it’s not your home. It’s not a place where you should make yourself comfy and completely let your guard down.
The same is true for this world. We may want to let our guard down and get comfy cozy while we are here…but it’s not our home. No matter how much time we spend here this world will never be our home. Jesus encourages us to be dressed and ready to go for his return. When you are too comfortable here it is easy to let your guard down and become distracted away from following Christ. Have you gotten too comfortable here? Are you ready for Christ’s return?
