Verse of the day:
The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help. (Psalm 34:15)
When we were little, how often did we stare at the back of our mother’s head to see if she really did, "have eyes in the back of her head?” Seems like she always knew what we were up to. In reality she was just watching over us—and with seven kids in our family; that took a lot of watching. Likewise, her ears were sharply tuned to each of us individually. She could pick our voice or cry for help out of a large crowd. That was the responsibility she accepted as our mother.
As children, our mother was a tangible example of God’s love, concern and care for us. As our Heavenly Father, He is acutely aware of what concerns each one of us—individually. We can go to Him without getting in a line to be heard. He hears the faintest cry—sees the most distant concerns we have—even before we are aware those concerns exist. He tells us, “He knows what we have need of even before we ask”—as incredible as Mom is, even she can’t do that.
