Faithful To All That Matters

2 Kings 17:1-18:12
Verse of the day:
But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God. (Acts 20:24)
Paul’s life was far a bed of roses. Shipwrecks, beatings and imprisonment; there was never a dull or easy moment. What kept him going? Did Paul have a motivation that we can tap into?
Paul came to see his life as worthless unless he was faithful to the work God had called him to do. Money didn’t matter to him. Vacations on a sunny Mediterranean isle didn’t matter. Popularity didn’t matter. Building a successful career didn’t matter. Many of the believers I look up to have this same motivation for their life; they want to be faithful. Faithfulness to God and his call on your life will be the criteria whether your life was worthwhile or worthless.
Nothing in life mattered more to Paul than being faithful to his God-given assignment. His assignment was not unique; we also have the mandate to share the good news and let everyone know about the grace of God. Faithfulness to this call is all that matters. Besides, there is not a feeling more thrilling than to be used by God!
