Isaiah 3:1-5:30
2 Corinthians 11:1-15
Psalm 53:1-6
Proverbs 22:28-29

Verse of the day:

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” He said, “Go and tell this people: “‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’” (Isaiah 6:8-9)

We know we should share our faith with a co-worker or classmate.  We know we should call our friend facing a battle.  We know we should leave that project at the office to be with our family.  We know we should invest our time and talents in a ministry.

As believers, the Holy Spirit prompts us to take action.  Isaiah heard God’s voice asking, “Whom shall I send?  And who will go for us?”  God may be asking you the same questions today.

Hearing the call is only the first step.  God has given us the freewill to answer.  Isaiah responded, “Here I am.  Send me!”

Isaiah is told to bring God’s message to the people, even though they would not understand or perceive what was at stake.  God had a plan and a purpose.  We rarely know the scope of God’s intentions when we take action.  Our job is to be obedient to the call, despite the outcome or response from others.  Spiritual seeds planted today may not bear fruit for weeks, years or even in our lifetime.

What a privilege it is when we do get to see the positive results of God working through us.

Thank you, Lord, for using us despite our past, our inadequacies and our insecurities.  Give us boldness to step out in uncomfortable situations.  Give us the courage to answer, “Here I am.  Send me!”
