He Still Loves You

Verse of the day:
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he has redeemed from trouble and gathered in from the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south. (Psalm 107:1-3)
Our psalm today was written after Israel returned to the Promised Land. It was a reminder to give thanks to God; because, He delivered them from the oppression of Babylon and gathered them in from all points of the compass. You see, God did not forget about His people in those long years of suffering and trial. He still loved them. He allowed their captivity as a way to bring them back to Him.
If like Israel, today you find yourself suffering the consequences of your sin, I have good news for you. God has not given up on you! He still loves you! He is allowing this season of suffering and trial not to destroy you but to restore you, to bring you closer to Him. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that God makes you suffer to force you to love Him. My point is that God loves you so much that He even uses your mistakes to bring you closer to Him.
This psalm encouraged those who were brought back to the Promised Land to give thanks to God. They were to give thanks in order to demonstrate their dependence on God (because He did what they could not do) and their gratitude to Him (because they recognized that God didn’t have to do it).
Have you experienced the life-altering and chain-braking power of God’s love? If you have, show your gratefulness by telling others what God did in your life.
