He Still Moves Stones

Verse of the day:
…the angel said, “Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Look, this is where they laid his body." (Mark 16:6)
On this fateful day that changed history, the grieving women journeyed to the tomb to anoint Jesus’ body. They asked, “Who will roll away the stone?” The reality was that a large, immovable object stood in the way of their task. But still, they journeyed on.
Many of us face roadblocks in life; mountains standing in our way. Usually, when we attempt something challenging in life they rear their ugly head again and again. These roadblocks are familiar, they’ve kept us out before, and they look like giants in our path. The largest ones come in the shape of shame or fear. So many struggle with hidden secrets or shame from our past; things we hope no one will ever know about us. We falsely believe that if anyone finds out, our life will be ruined. They are past mistakes; failures that haunt our dreams. They whisper we are unqualified to live a great life, have a great marriage, or attempt great things for God. They are negative beliefs and they shout, “Stay where you are! Don’t try again! You can’t do this!”
Every step the women took toward the tomb that morning, was a step of faith. They knew the stone was there yet they believed that somehow they would get inside. This is the key to breaking through these kinds of barriers. Faith does not deny what is; instead, it embraces what can be. Faith is the belief that though an obstacle stands in the way, God still moves stones! Could you imagine if the women that day simply stayed home? Like most of the disciples, they would have missed out on the joy of beholding an empty tomb and seeing their risen Savior; that not even death could stand in the way of the Savior of the world.
