One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Isaiah 10:1-11:16
2 Corinthians 12:11-21
Psalm 56:1-13
Proverbs 23:6-8

Verse of the day:

I will gladly spend myself and all I have for you, even though it seems that the more I love you, the less you love me. (2 Corinthians 12:14)

Is there someone you’ve invested a lot into? It could be an investment of time, money, advice, maybe love. Whatever it is, you look back and can recognize that you put a lot of yourself into that person. Where you’re at now, do you feel like it was all worth it?

When Paul writes this portion of Scripture to the church in Corinth, he’s talking about visiting the church again and is nervous of what he’ll find. He realizes that he’s put a lot into helping this church grow and flourish, and he’s worried that his investment isn’t going to pay off. He loves this church and as he writes, will do whatever he can to help each individual grow in their relationship with Jesus. But was all of it worth it?

Maybe there’s someone in your life that you just feel like isn’t appreciating or understanding all that you’re trying to do for them. The reminder and encouragement for us from Paul’s letter to the church in Corinth is that it is worth it. Every prayer, every conversation, every dollar spent to help someone get to the next step is worth it. It might be frustrating, it may feel like it’s getting nowhere, but don’t stop investing. Don’t quit helping because they need you. If they’ve driven you to the last straw, pray constantly for God to open their eyes and give you patience. What you’re doing is making a difference and will be worth it.
