One Year Bible Reading Guide:

1 Kings 15:25-17:24
Acts 10:24-48
Psalm 134:1-3
Proverbs 17:9-11

Verse of the day:

You will drink from the brook, and I have directed the ravens to supply you with food there. (1 Kings 17:4)

It just takes a few clicks on your laptop or swipes on your smartphone.  Pizza, sub sandwiches or Chinese food will arrive at your doorstep within a few commercial breaks.

Our family doesn’t even go to the grocery store these days.  My wife sets an order online and a bright green delivery truck comes the next day with the week’s rations.  It’s a highlight of the day for our two-year-old and four-year-old girls.

Thousands of years ago, the prophet Elijah received his daily meals by delivery.

It was the beginning of a long drought.  God told Elijah to, "Drink from the brook and eat what the ravens bring you, for I have commanded them to bring you food” (1 Kings 17:4 NLT).

It wasn’t a car with rooftop plastic sign.  It wasn’t a bright green truck.  Birds flew in with bread and meat for Elijah.  They reliably came twice a day.

We need to trust that God is aware of our circumstances.  We can depend on Him to meet our needs.  Yet, as Elijah experienced, the Lord’s provision may come in unexpected ways from unfamiliar places.  The methods used by God are often outside of what we even think is possible.
