Verse of the day:
There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her. (Luke 10:42)
I am not a party person. I don’t do well a planning people’s opportunities to celebrate. It is not that I don’t like to celebrate, I just can get so overwhelmed with the details of the event, that the event itself stops being a celebration and becomes just another thing. The joy gets lost in the details. Maybe that is why they say the devil lives there.
Martha was definitely a detail person. She was thinking of the menus, where these guys would sleep and how best to take care of and serve Jesus. Mary, on the other hand, was able to block out all the details and to focus on the one thing that was important. Jesus had come to their home. He would not be there long so they would only have a limited time to spend with him. He came for relationship. However, Martha was too busy taking care of Jesus that she was not fulfilling the one thing he came for. She was seeing all the details, but missing the most important thing.
