One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Judges 2:10-3:31
Luke 22:14-34
Psalm 92:1-93:5
Proverbs 14:1-2

Verse of the day:

After that generation died, another generation grew up who did not acknowledge the Lord or remember the mighty things he had done for Israel. (Judges 2:10)

It has been said that the Christian church is just one generation away from extinction. The call of Jesus on all of our lives was to “go and make disciples.” We are called to invest our faith into the lives of others. We have to be intentional to share our faith with our coworkers and family members. We also have to be intentional about sharing our faith with generation that is coming along behind us.

The book of Judges is a roller coaster ride of the up and down again nature of Israel’s relationship with God. Judges opens by telling us about the failure of the generation that took possession of the Promised Land to pass on their faith. They did not share the stories of what God had done for them. Maybe they were tired from war? Maybe they were satisfied with the rich land that God had given them? Maybe they were burdened with all the work of building homes, rebuilding cities, sewing, planting, or reaping? Whatever the reason, in just one generation people stopped worshiping and calling out to God.

We must never underestimate the diligence we need to have with our own personal discipleship and the discipleship of our children. As the church world evolves, we must make sure that we are not moving away from the process of discipleship. Nothing is more important that raising up the next generation. Let’s make sure and start with ourselves and then pass along what God has given us. After all, you cannot be a true disciple of Jesus if you are not discipling others.
