2 Chronicles 21:1-23:21
Verse of the Day:
I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters.
I will praise you among your assembled people. (Psalm 22:22 NLT)
If you’ve never visited my church office, you really should stop by. Depending on the week, you might find a serene workspace or a wasteland. If it’s the week before Christmas, you can plan on wasteland. Organization is vital. My standard process is a digital ‘to-do’ list that stays on my computer desktop; however, when something’s REALLY important . . . when it absolutely CAN NOT be forgotten, I revert to the office miracle of 1968. That’s right . . . bright . . . yellow . . . sticky . . . Post-It Notes.
In Psalm chapter 22, David sings of the faithfulness of God. We praise God in prayer and in worship, but did you know that we can also praise God when we talk to other people? David says, “I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters. I will praise you among your assembled people.” David is reaching out to people who already know. This isn’t about evangelism; it’s about encouraging those who gather to worship. It’s about issuing a passionate and unavoidable reminder.
As a community of believers, WE . . . NEED . . . EACH . . . OTHER. In the stacks of paper and mess, hope can be discarded. Joy can be laid aside. Sometimes the things that are the most important can be forgotten when life becomes scattered. We need fellow Christians to place a bright yellow Post-It Note in the middle of our view. We need someone to remind us—someone to praise God TO us. God is faithful. God heals. God forgives. God restores. God comforts those who mourn. God is love.
