Psalm 119:129-152
Proverbs 28:21-22

Verse of the day:

“Get out of my life, you evil-minded people, for I intend to obey the commands of my God.” (Psalm 119: 115)

We’ve all heard the phrase “Show me your friends, and I’ll show you your future.” It is a nice little thought provoking phrase that we often tell teens but its applicable all life long. The people that we choose to be close to us have a huge impact on the direction of our lives. This can either be a really good or really bad thing.

It’s not just the friends that we choose who impact our direction but it is also the voices that we allow to influence us. The podcasts we listen to, the people we follow on Instagram and Twitter, the blogs we subscribe to, the news outlets we watch, even the books we read all are influencing and shaping us and how we think. When these voices and friends are influencing us away from living a life that lines us with God’s commands it’s time to say goodbye.

Sometimes in order to follow God you have to be resolute. You have to set the direction that you intend on going and move the obstacles out of the way. Sometimes you walk portions of that journey alone but if you keep walking you will meet people who are headed in the same direction.
