Verse of the day:

Then Jesus told him, "Go back home. Your son will live!" And the man believed what Jesus said and started home." (John 4:50)

A parent would do just about anything for a sick child. It is so hard to see our children dealing with hurt and pain. Many parents have prayed that God would take the pain away from their child and give it to them. Imagine the desperation of parents who knew their child was dying.

Now imagine that several months before you had been to a wedding and seen the most amazing thing. A man came and turned over 120 gallons of water into good wine. A man that could do that could surely bring your child back to health. If only he would come this way again. And then you hear the news. Jesus had returned to the region and was passing through the nearby town of Cana. You race from your home in Capernaum to see if you can catch him. You must find this Jesus.

The story recorded in John chapter four of a desperate parent shows us the power of Jesus word. Jesus does not venture to the man's house. He just tells him that his son would be healed. Amazingly, that was all the man needed to hear. As he journeyed back home from Cana, he was met by men from his home coming to tell him that his son was getting better, His son had not died. Jesus had been a man of his word. As the city official discovered, the son had been healed the moment that the father was talking to Jesus. Jesus was a man of his word.

So was the city official. After the wedding in Cana, he knew Jesus was a man that could do wonders. Now, he not only knew it, but he believed. Jesus had not just done a wonder at a wedding but he had healed the official's son, with just a word. Jesus not only healed the boy, but brought belief to the whole family. He was a man of His Word.
