One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Job 16:1-19:29
1 Corinthians 16:1-24
Psalm 40:1-10
Proverbs 22:1

Verse of the day:

He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. (Psalms 40:2)

If you have ever had an injury to your knees, hips, ankles, or feet, then you know how painful it is to try and walk with an injury. You don’t feel steady on your feet. You are always favoring the strong leg to over compensate for the week one. It is amazing how just a little pain in the right area of our lives can cause us to be unable or unwilling to move.

Despair grows in our lives when we are unwilling or unable to move out of a hurtful situation. We may have tried to move on from that past hurt or pain, but every time we try we feel as if our lives are about to topple out of control. So we stay in our despair because we are stuck.

I am so glad that in the midst of our despair, we have hope. Jesus can lift us out of our despair, past the hurt and the pain and help to place us on Steady ground. Ground that allows you to start moving forward. Ground that is good for gaining momentum and finding our way. We can move forward when God gives us a hand up.

Are you in a place of despair today? Are you still grieving the loss of a relationship? Are you still hurt by past words or past actions of others? Talk to God about it and invite Jesus into the middle of your situation. Let him pour His Spirit over you and help you to arise and move to a place of steady, solid ground. Then, with one step at a time, you will be able to walk. Steady as you go, as you hold the hand of our Lord, Savior, and the lifter of our heads.
