Galatians 5:1-12
Psalm 63:1-11
Proverbs 23:22

Verse of the day:

Look, a righteous king is coming! And honest princes will rule under him. Each one will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a parched land. (Isaiah 32:1-2)

Are you tired? Has the pace of life left you gasping for breath, wanting to call a time out and take a water break?

Now I am sure that most of us have never been lost in the desert before. I am pretty sure none of us have ever been so thirsty that we thought we would die. However, I am sure that all of us have endured a hot, 90 degree day, feeling the draining effects of sun exposure. I grew up in the south and lived in south Alabama for seven years. There is nothing more oppressive then a day of 90% humidity, 90+ degrees, and no wind. It is suffocating.  On those days all you want is a cool place to be and not many places are more refreshing than a moving stream. Pools are nice, but water that is moving is cooler; it’s refreshing keeps rolling over you.

That is the picture of what it will be like when the King comes. We are hearing a lot today about the coming of the King. Jesus return seems to be so close we can feel it. Yet, there are thoughts of judgement, payment of sins, and tribulation (all of which are coming to this world). We see the righteous king’s return and his correction of this world, putting right that which has gone so wrong.

For the Church and His people, the King’s return is not a punishment but a prize. His presence in this world will be as refreshing as a stream in the desert, as welcome as shade on a hot day. If you are tired and worn out from this present world, just know that your refreshing is coming. Pray today that the rivers of the Holy Spirit will flow over your life and give you the strength and wisdom to live another day, in anticipation of our King’s return.
