1 Samuel 26:1-28:25
John 11:1-54
Psalm 117:1-2
Proverbs 15:22-23

Verse of the day:

Plans go wrong for lack of advice; many advisers bring success. (Proverbs 15:22)

Bad decisions are made in the dark. When we surround ourselves with unwise counsel or no counsel at all, disaster is usually one decision away. Here are three advisors that need to be involved in the decisions of your life.

1. The Sage is a man or woman with a great breadth of knowledge and experience—someone who has successfully navigated the roads you wish to travel. If you want to be a teacher, it’s someone who’s taught for 30 years. If you want to get married, it’s someone who’s been married for 50 years. Dismantling your pride and seeking sage advise will bring currents of wisdom into your life.

2. The Dreamer isn’t always young but is ALWAYS youthful. The dreamer is an unbridled fan of your possibilities—someone who says ‘Why not?’ and ‘Yes, you can!’ If our horizons grow stagnant, our dreams become irrelevant to our realities. Find a dreamer and embrace their zeal.

3. The Companion is the person who drives home with you from work—someone who is well acquainted with your best and your worst. Drive-by advise can often miss the mark. The ones that know us best should be honored when decisions need to be made. No one is an island. Listen to the ones that love you dearly.

Wise decisions are often unpopular. We can't use opinion polls to direct our steps, but we also can't do this alone. Choose carefully, choose wisely, and surround yourself with the advisors you can't live without.
